At Kura Kai, our kaupapa is simple, we provide a freezer to High Schools and then groups of local volunteers cook delicious hearty meals to donate and fill the freezer 1-2 times per term.
One of our Kura Kai coordinators will deliver the meals and from there the school manages all communication and distribution of these meals.
Some teachers have been cooking and serving meals at school, many have been sending them home with rangatahi/youth, while others are taking them to whanau when conducting home visits.
The feedback we have received so far has been incredible and this support and relief has been well received by so many families throughout our Kura.
Our volunteers pay for all their own ingredients, foil trays and donate the cooked meals along with their time to this initiative. Kura Kai fundraisers to purchase and donate the chest freezers to selected kura/school.
